art lessons for children

Children and Families

I can run both 1-2-1 art lessons for children, or family painting sessions for you and your children so you can come along and spend some time creating together

Both my 1-2-1 lessons and family painting sessions are very much driven around what your child or children want to create.  As most children will be told what to create at school, I find that they love having the freedom and space to create what they would like to in my studio.  There is no right or wrong and there are no strict rules, which help to build their confidence and creativity.  And most importantly, the lessons and painting sessions are all about having fun!

1-2-1 Art Lessons for Children

Like my 1-2-1 art lessons for adults, I run 1 or 2 hour art lessons for children aged 7+. Great if you can see that your child has creative potential, and loves art, but they are starting to doubt their ability and lose their confidence.

These are not your traditional art lessons – they are not about teaching skills and technique in a formal way, but are completely tailored to what your child would like to do.  I will paint or draw alongside your child, taking their lead in what we create together, and demonstrating things and giving ideas as part of the process.

Price: £35 per hour

Please email me if you would like to enquire about booking a 1-2-1 art lesson for your your child.

Family Painting Sessions

Why not come and spend a calming hour painting some lovely big, colourful artwork with your children in my art studio?  You can listen to music, have a cup of tea, and perhaps most importantly, you don’t have to clear up afterwards!

The idea of these sessions is that you can either paint some pieces of art together with your children – so you all work on the same piece at the same time, or all produce your own individual pieces.  A great way to connect with your children, to see them in action and to be lead by their creative ideas.

As with my 1-2-1 lessons, these are not about teaching you specific skills or techniques, but are about having fun with paint and experiencing quality time together.

(If you would like your child to try out different art materials or would like them to have some more 1-2-1 support then the 1-2-1 art lessons may be a good option for them.  And if as an adult you are interested in learning skills and techniques you might be interested in coming on one of my Painting: For Beginners courses).

Each session is 1 hour (although I can run 2 hour sessions on request), and is for groups of up to 8.  The minimum age for children is 3+.  All materials are provided, as well as refreshment and overalls to protect your clothing.

Price: Varies depending on how many people will be coming to the session – please contact me for a quote, including the number of people and ages of your children.

What people have to say about my family art sessions …..

“My son has come home so inspired he went straight to the cupboard and got the paints out.  He’s currently producing another masterpiece”. Claire Lake

“Loved today’s art session with my 8 year old. It was so nice to share some focused time doing something we both really enjoyed. Will definitely be back!” Sarah Wyatt

“My two sons and I had a great time at Jane’s family art session. Jane encouraged us to explore different ways of using the paint and the boys enjoyed sticking on the glitter and wobbly eyes at the end! Jane was very welcoming and the boys have already asked if they can go back!” Liz Crabbe
