Do you like van Gogh’s style of painting? The colours, the movement, the drama – what isn’t to like?
Wouldn’t it be great to produce a painting of your own in this style?
This painting workshop is all about experimenting with a more free and expressive style of painting, and learning some new painting techniques. By having a go at painting in this way, it will really help you to build on your confidence with your painting, and to continue to develop your own unique painting style too.
At the end of this painting workshop you will leave feeling thoroughly relaxed and energised, a little like going to a spa (a full day of painting does that to you)! Plus you will have learned a different style of painting, and have created at least one painting in this style to take away with you.
How the painting workshop works
The first part of the workshop will include a little bit of history about Vincent van Gogh, the background to his work and how his style developed. I will then be giving demonstrations on how to recreate his style of painting. You will spend the morning experimenting with these techniques, and will build up to painting a landscape (or several landscapes) in this style over the course of the day. I ask you to bring with you a few pictures of landscapes you would really love to be able to paint, and will provide plenty of support to help you to recreate these landscapes in the van Gogh style.
This workshop, as with my classes, is small – with a maximum of 6 people – so you will get lots of individual support with your artwork.
This painting workshop is great for you if you:
- Fancy a day just for you – to indulge in creativity and to escape your to-do list!
- Would love to do some more painting but find it hard to make the time and space for this at home.
- You missed out on doing art for GCSE or A Level at school, and always wished you had done it!
- You have been on one or more of my art classes or courses (although this isn’t essential).
