Painting: For Improvers

Termly painting courses to help you to continue to develop your painting skills – whether you are quite new to painting, or are wanting to get back into painting again

These mixed level painting courses will help you to exercise your creative muscle each week, leaving you feeling creatively fulfilled as well as relaxed and energised.  Great for you if you know that you are much more likely to paint on a regular basis if you are on a course with other people, or you would like to build up your confidence to be able to paint regularly at home.

This termly course follows on nicely from my Painting: Getting Started courses and Explore Your Creativity workshops, although you may also like to join if you have studied painting before elsewhere (at any level), and would really love to get stuck back in again.

Paint whatever you would like to, at your own pace

This may seem a little broad – but – these courses are designed to help you to continue to develop your creativity.  This is not the sort of course where everyone will be painting the same thing!  You can choose to work on your own projects, bringing along pictures, objects and ideas for creating your own paintings.

Plus I can also suggest a whole range of ideas for you to paint if you would prefer to paint in this way.  I will have a wide range of imagery (photographs and pictures of artwork) to inspire you.

These painting courses use acrylic paint – and there will be a wide range of lovely coloured paints, brushes, palette knives, textured mediums, collage materials and printing materials to use and explore.

You also have the option of trying out other materials including watercolour paints and pencils, pastels and charcoal.

Each session starts off with a fun warm up exercise to help you get into the zone – which could be anything from creating quick collages to painting with your eyes shut!

The courses are small – with up to 6 people – so you will get lots of individual support with your artwork.

What people have to say about these painting courses….

“There are a number of things I’ve loved about this course. One is the space to experiment with painting without judgement.  Here, there are no rules so you really can just try things out and see what works for you – I’ve been trying some new techniques and developing my own style so my confidence is building. The second is having some specific space in my diary each week to spend time painting. I never seem to have time to do this at home as it always seems such a big task to get everything out and get started, however just turning up at Jane’s studio makes things really easy, and there’s no clearing up to do! Finally, it’s been really inspiring seeing all the different approaches and ideas the others have come up with plus it’s nice to share the experience with people who have a common interest. The whole experience has been a really fun one – I always thought I’d enjoy it but I’ve got even more out of it that I expected and it’s given me real encouragement to try some more things out at home.” Sarah Wyatt

“I enjoyed coming on Jane’s evening course – it was time out every week just for me, to purely enjoy putting paint to paper, try different creative methods, and above all to have fun!” Sophia Andeh

“Jane’s Improvers course gives you the chance to experiment and try new things! It has helped to build my confidence, knowing that I can ask for advice when needed. It has proven to also be a warm and social environment to be arty in! I leave every session feeling like I’ve achieved something, and had the opportunity to relax and be creative.” Sophie Peet
